Inclement Weather Policy!
Art Alliance Adult classes are held on schedule when the Greensboro Cultural Center is open. If conditions are not deemed safe the building will close and classes will not be held. Art Alliance youth classes will follow the Guilford County School cancellation schedule.
As always, use your best judgement.

Art Allaince pottery classes are held in room #129, located on the first floor of the Greensboro Cultural Center.
Parking is available behind the Cultural Center in the Church Street Parking Deck.
Youth classes include hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques using earthen clay, glazing and and learning to work in a clay studio. All supplies and firing fees are included. Class size is limited to eight students, pre-registration required, with payment due before the first class. Students should be prepared to have a great clay experience--dress for fun!
$75/6 weeks. Supplies included.
Pre-registration and pre-payment required 1-week before class begins.
If class minimum is not met one week before class begins, we cannot hold class and will cancel. Register early to avoid disappointment!

Art Alliance 2010 Art Camps
Art Alliance Art Camps are held in the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center, 200 N. Davie Street, in downtown Greensboro, in Studios 127 & 129, located on the first floor of the Greensboro Cultural Center. Camp instructors are all educated artists/instructors. Art Alliance camps are offered to specific age groups each week, with age appropriate projects.
All campers should bring a snack, full day campers should also bring a bag lunch for supervised lunchtime. Please inquire about discounts for multiple all day weeks, or siblings attending all day weeks together. Class size is limited for all camps. Pre registration is required. Scholarships may be available,.

Teens
Week1- June 28-July 2
Drawing & Painting,

Students explore drawing and painting techniques. Media will include charcoal, pencil, watercolor, paint on canvas and more.

Pottery
8:30-12:30 ages 11-14 years
1:00-5:00 ages 15-19 years
Students will be introduced to the Art Alliance pottery studio, working with hand-building techniques, wheel-throwing techniques, textures and more. Fee includes all supplies, clay, and firing fees. One additional day is included for a final glazing.

Week 2, July 6-July 9, (four days) ages 6-8

Travelling Art – make what moves you 6-8
Art doesn’t have to stay in one place. Make art that moves! Students will create all the necessities for their journeys (both real and imagined): walking sticks, compasses, maps, even knapsacks! We will also create paintings and sculptures telling the story of personal travelling adventures. Bring your hiking shoes, as we will go on adventure hikes, putting our artistic creations to use.

Week 3, July 12-July 16, ages 9-11
Textile Art 8:30-12:30
This camp will work with color, texture, and a variety of materials. Campers will weave, dye, create felt, print and paint fabric, and make baskets. A class for anyone who likes to know how you make that! You’ll work with a professional textile artist creating art and crafts with new and familiar materials.

Week 4, July 19-July 23, ages 6-8 years

Story Art (ages 6-8)
Do you have a story to tell? Tell it with art! Students will explore different mediums of artistic storytelling such as picture books, puppets, storyboards, and dioramas. Students cooperate with others to create a story, taking turns directing the plot in a fun collaborative project. They will also work on their reading and speaking skills, as they share their stories with the class.

Week 5, July 26-July 30, ages 9-11 years

Recycled Art
Don’t throw that away – it could be your next masterpiece! Students learn how to make beautiful art from everyday objects. Coffee holders can be gargoyles, old magazines turn into mosaics, even milk cartons make great birdhouses! Students are encouraged to use their own imagination to see beauty in the ordinary.

Garden Art
Take your art into the great outdoors! We’ll make flower pots, bird houses, garden flags, wind chimes, stepping stones and more. Make your garden a work of art and let your creativity grow wild!
